APD Arrests Suspect in Southeast Albuquerque Murder

Detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department arrested Davonta Jacob on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in connection with the murder of Timothy Lemon, which took place on May 24, 2024, in Southeast Albuquerque.

Homicide detectives identified 24-year-old Jacob based on witness descriptions and surveillance footage showing the shooting shortly after 10 p.m. on May 24, 2024, near the intersection of Palomas Dr. and Eastern Ave. S.E.

The video showed a vehicle stopping in the roadway, with the driver exiting and firing one round in the direction of the victim. Despite witnesses’ attempts to save him, 33-year-old Lemon died from a gunshot wound to the chest. A witness reported that Lemon was assisting someone with setting up a tent when the shooting took place.

Jacob faces charges of an open count of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Timothy Lemon’s murder was the 43rd homicide in the Albuquerque Metro area for 2024.
