Albuquerque – Around 5:50AM, Albuquerque Police Department’s sworn graveyard PIO Chase Jewell sent out an email informing the media that there was a fatal pedestrian crash at 1st Street NW and McKnight Ave NW.
According to Ofc. Jewell, APD officers were first dispatched to the area around 4am, as there were reports of an individual laying in the roadway. When APD Officers arrived on scene, they located one individual, but the individual had already died as a result of their injuries.
APD’s Motor’s Unit has been tasked with taking over the vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
According to Ofc. Jewell, 1st Street NW is closed between I-40 and McKnight, in both north and southbound directions. At the time of this publishing, it is unknown if the streets are still blocked off.
