Last night, we reported that officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were at 55th St SW and Central Ave SW, which were blocked off during the search for a suspect. We have learned more about what led to the situation in SW ABQ, where APD officers responded to an apartment complex regarding an ongoing domestic dispute between a couple with restraining orders.
According to a criminal complaint, 24-year-old Jhon Mena Ibarguen entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, and officers were called to the scene. When they arrived, they located Ibarguen with his ex-girlfriend in a vehicle. Prior to the officers’ arrival, it appears Ibarguen’s controlling behavior got the best of him, and he took his ex-girlfriend’s phone. Officers asked Ibarguen to step out of the vehicle and was told he was being arrested for an active warrant. He fled the scene and ran through the neighborhood. APD officers eventually lost visual of him. Air 2 was deployed to assist officers on the ground in locating Ibarguen.
The ex-girlfriend has a tracking device on her phone and was able to give real time location of Ibarguen. Officers were able to find Ibarguen again at the Old Coors Tire Shop. The APD officers established a perimeter and called APD K9 to the scene. The dog was deployed and engaged at missile speed to apprehend Ibarguen.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing law enforcement and was booked on his warrant from the previous incidents with his ex-girlfriend.

Released less than a day after. Wow! I’m sure he is a fine young gentleman who will uphold the law and be on-time and even early to all of his upcoming court dates. In fact, due to his awesome civil actions, the judge will see through all of these false accusations and see all the good in him and certainly dismiss all charges against this great example of a good human being.
