Police Presence Near 55th and Central in SW ABQ as Officers Search for Suspect

Albuquerque –

At 5:00 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department presently have 55th St SW and Central Ave SW blocked off as they search for a suspect. 55th is reportedly blocked off between Central and Churchill Rd SW.

A witness walking by Sharky’s Fish & Shrimp contacted us to state there was a heavy policy presence.

UPDATE:

Yucca Dr SW and Old Coors Dr SW is also closed between Central and Churchill Rd.

As of 7:10 PM, this situation is still ongoing. Residents living in the area may hear APD’s air support hovering overhead as they assist officers on the ground.

UPDATE 2:

At 7:30 PM, the suspect was taken into custody. Yucca is still reportedly blocked off between Churchill and Central at this time.

UPDATE 3:

As of 9:10 PM, all lanes of traffic have purportedly been reopened.
