On Friday afternoon, APD reported that officers responded to a call at the McDonald’s at 1120 Indian School Road NE. When officers arrived, they discovered one person with an apparent gunshot wound. The individual was taken to a local hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries.
A witness posted on ABQ RAW’s Facebook page that the shooting happened in the McDonald’s parking lot and not inside of the McDonald’s. The witness reported that the victim was at the McDonald’s with what appeared to be his wife and child. The witness reported that after the victim was shot, the victim was supposedly clipped by a blue SUV that was driven by the suspect as the suspect fled the scene.
APD reports that at this time, there is no suspect description.
According to APD, Indian School Road is currently shutdown east of 12thStreet as the Homicide Unit investigates this case.
This is a developing story and we will update it as more information becomes available.
This is the 28th homicide of 2023 for the Albuquerque Metro area.
**Correction Note: a previous version of this story identified this homicide as occurring in NE Albuquerque. This is in the Valley Area Command, but it has a NW area code.**
