The Fatal Crash Unit of the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a fatal single-vehicle accident near Unser Blvd NW and Western Trail NW shortly after midnight.
Preliminary findings indicate that a white Infinity G37 was heading south on Unser Blvd when it seemingly lost control just before the Western Trail NW intersection. The car veered from the rightmost lane, collided with the west shoulder, and went off the road. Subsequently, it crashed through a street light, became airborne, and eventually came to rest back on the roadway, atop the center median.
During the incident, two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. It’s reported that the driver suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
A bystander at the scene mentioned that the Infinity might have racing with a blue Ford Mustang. According to APD, this investigation is ongoing.
