APD Investigates Homicide in SE Albuquerque

Late last night, a shooting incident took place in Southeast Albuquerque, and now the police are working hard to find answers. Detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a man.

Just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, the APD received a call reporting a shooting in the area of Central Ave. and Vermont St. APD officers rushed to the scene to help. They found a man with a gunshot wound in his torso. The man was immediately taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) by Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR).

Despite the best efforts of UNMH’s medical team, the man tragically lost his life due to his injuries. The man’s identity has not been released.

It is unknown if there is a suspect in custody.

Right now, the APD is working hard to figure out what happened and why.

They are asking for anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation. This is the 88th homicide for the Albuquerque Metro Area for 2023.
