Around 8:30PM, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash at 86th St SW and Central Ave SW.

Officers arrived and found a deceased person in the middle of the road.

According to two witnesses, the driver that struck the pedestrian fled the scene. We reached out to APD to ask for confirmation. However, as of this publication, we have not received a reply.

APD’s Motor unit is being called out to investigate.

If we learn more about this incident, we will update you.

UPDATE:

On July 30, 2025, the Albuquerque Police Department released a crash investigation update which stated:

On July 29, 2025 at approximately 2038 hours, the Fatal crash investigation team was dispatched to the intersection of 86th St NW and Central Ave W in reference to a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. There was a white Ford F150 and one pedestrian involved. A preliminary investigation indicated the Ford F150 was driving westbound Central Ave W just west of the intersection of 86th St NW. While driving westbound, the vehicle crashed into a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The vehicle stayed on scene and spoke to Detectives. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. This is an ongoing investigation and all evidence on scene was collected and gathered by detectives.
