One Dead in NE Albuquerque House Fire

On July 29, 2025, at 2:51 PM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 9600 block of McKnight Ave NE. Upon arrival, Rescue 9 reported a working fire with heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage.

Engine 5 established fire attack, forcing entry through the front door and attacked the garage fire from the interior. AFR stated that Engine 5’s crew split up to initiate a primary search, coordinated with Rescue 9. Engine 13 completed a forward lay for water supply and entered the residence to assist with search operations.

AFR crews achieved knockdown and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival. During primary search operations, one victim was located in the garage area and extricated. AFR’s PIO Lt. Jason Fejer said the one individual was pronounced deceased on scene.

There were no injuries to fire personnel. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
