Officer Involved Shooting at Central and Alvarado

Albuquerque –

At around 12:20 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were responding to the area of Central and Alvarado. We presently do not know the nature of the call in which officers were responding to.

Our reporter that is there notes that there is a heavy police presence near the Tewa Lodge.

It is believed a suspect in this location fired* at police. At least one APD officer returned fire. All officers are okay. The suspect that reportedly fired at officers is dead.

This is an active and developing incident — details are subject to change. We will update you as we learn more.

APD has Central blocked between Cardenas and Palomas. The Multi-Agency Task Force is responding to investigate.

UPDATE:

APD now has Central blocked between San Pedro and San Mateo.

UPDATE 2:

*During a press conference, APD stated there was a disturbance after an individual was detained. The individual was reportedly concealing their identity, some disturbance between the person detained and officers ensued, and at least one officer fired their gun. There was a gun found on scene.

  1. They (APD) need to close that hotel down permanently!!! ( This is same place where the chief of police ran the red light due to gunfire. ) That would be the best thing for this neighborhood!! I live 1 block from the hotel. There are always gun shots, drug addicts, and trouble coming from there. All the druggies sit right there on Alvarado SE. It’s horrible!!! Please APD, shut it down for good!!!

        1. I can blame APD when they drive right by the addicts (who are doing the drugs ) and they keep on driving. One thing I can say from yesterday’s incident is Alvarado is empty tonight. Now the homeless/ addicts are all around my place tonight. The other place that needs closed down is a business on Domingo, just west of Palomas that hands out needles to the junkies… thats keeping them around neighborhood also
