Albuquerque’s War Zone – APD’s Chief of Police tells us that an officer went out with a suspected drug dealer. At some point the officer told the suspect he was going to be arrested for drugs. The dealer instead ran away. The officer chased the suspect on foot into a residential area. When the suspect was engaged by the officer he allegedly produced a gun instead of surrendering to police. The officer shot at the drug dealer and missed. The drug dealer then ran away again, unharmed. The suspect ditched gun somewhere in neighborhood while fleeing. Other responding officers found the now unarmed drug dealer and took him into custody. Nobody got shot during the entire encounter. The ATF is on scene with a special gun sniffing dog trying to help look for the missing suspect gun in the neighborhood.
