Albuquerque –

The Albuquerque Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Central and Indiana on Saturday, May 18th. When officers arrived, they found an individual with at least one gunshot wound.

The person was taken to UNMH hospital, but their condition is presently unknown.

At the time of this posting, APD is reportedly still searching for the shooter.

We have a reporter at the scene trying to learn more details. We will update you as we gather more information.

UPDATE:

At 11:30 AM, we learned that the person from this shooting died at UNMH.

APD’s homicide investigators will take over the ongoing investigation.

Eastbound Central traffic will be closed between San Pedro and Louisiana for the next several hours due to the ongoing investigation.

This is the 41st homicide in the Albuquerque Metro Area for 2024. On March 4, 2024, a shooting occurred near Central and Indiana, resulting in two people being shot and one fatality.
