Albuquerque – In a late afternoon Friday news release dump, the Albuquerque Police Department released some fugazi type data charts touting that gun crimes are down from last years stats. The release did not have any data or numbers to compare from to back up their numbers.
The release said:
“Albuquerque is experiencing decreases in three major gun-related crime categories, so far in 2024, as compared to the same time period in 2023.” The release goes on to say:
“We’re seeing a significant reduction in murders involving firearms, shootings with injury, and gunshots,” APD Chief Harold Medina said. “The combination of proactive crime-fighting operations and successful investigations is starting to pay off. We have more work to do, but these crime stats are encouraging.” The number of non-negligent murders involving firearms is down 32% year-to-date between 2023 and 2024.”
We will attempt to request records from 2023 to fact check these graphs, but a records request for these types of numbers will take nearly 6 to 8 months to be returned to anyone due to APD’s record keepers exclaiming any request, no matter how simple, is deemed “burdensome”. We did reach out to APD’s civilian public information officer Gilbert Gallegos about where they got their numbers but we were ignored as per their internal policy.
What an absolute CROCK of effluent coming straight from Harold “Gomer” Medina’s crooked, corrupt mouth. This is the same police chief who claims that he had to blow through a red light to save his wife’s life from a homeless man firing a gun near his truck, whilest almost taking out a truck immediately to his left, and then t-boning a compact car on the driver’s side on the opposite side of the intersection at almost 40 MPH and almost killing the driver. Internal investigation let’s him off with NO charges. Homeless man who fired the gun gets the book thrown at him and God only knows whether those charges will stick because after all, it’s Albuquerque replete with no-bail courts and slime ball judges. Same police chief that had NO IDEA about the years long DWI corruption scam within high ranking cops in APD that made national news resulting in 10+ cops quitting or resigning, and 220+ DWI cases being thrown out by Cowboy Hat Bregman, and STILL ZERO charges filed against ANYONE? That APD Chief?
People are being shot almost daily here in Albuquerque, and killed on average every 4-5 days, ABQ Raw has HOMIECIDE numbers already in the upper 50’s or 60’s for the year, yet APD doesn’t count 1/3 of them because they cook the numbers to make it look like gun crime is going down in order to be in lock step and in sync with progressive/Marxists Dreamy Mayor Timmy, and the Chipmunk governess in Santa Fe. (That’s interesting, I thought progressives say that gun crime is out of control!!!) Even Santa Fe’s gun crimes are on the increase.
I hope ABQ Raw will be able to get their hands on the real numbers, but I expect that the fix is in, and interference will play out in the city inner sanctum as cited, and we’ll wait many months for any semblence of “the truth”, whatever that is…..
The mayor and chief needs to wake up and realize that the violence is still an extreme problem and the charts and percentages don’t show that much of an improvement if in fact the figures are accurate!
¡¿What city does APD live in..not mine..SAVAGES!?
I will say this again. Gun control is not the answer. So if anyone wants stricter laws. Stop and think. If they are willing to commit murder. What in the world makes anyone think they will follow the gun laws? Those laws only hurts good law abiding citizens. People who are willing to follow those laws.
Taking things away only makes it worse because those who want to do it badly enough now just go through more dangerous avenues to get what they need. This can be said about so many policies. APD and BCSO really need to consider where their funding goes. Along with updating and making mandatory re training for all officers regularly. This would be to keep current with every day events that are constantly being handled incorrectly due to lack of current event awareness and not knowing or understanding the general public enough in the city they are paid to protect. Things I hear about those who were meant to make our city safer never fail to amaze me…
