Albuquerque –
The Albuquerque Police Department is attempting to arrest an armed suspect barricaded inside a property on the 400 block of Roma NE**. Reports from APD indicate that at least one shot was fired during a foot chase before the suspect entered the property.
We have received numerous tips about police activity near Lead and Walter, as well as Broadway and Lead. There are also reports of police presence around Coal and Broadway, Lomas and Broadway and Silver and Lomas.
The situation is ongoing as APD officers establish a perimeter. They are actively working to ensure everyone’s safety while simultaneously negotiating with the suspect. APD is waiting for the SWAT team to arrive.
Purportedly, this is an officer involved shooting. However, we have not heard from APD if any officers are hurt or if the suspect was hit.
We will provide an update when we learn more. Updates on this situation will be posted below the map.
**APD’s civilian PIO, Gilbert Gallegos, initially informed the media that the suspect was holed up in the 400 block of Roma Ave. S.E.
