APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is having a busy early morning while investigating two separate crashes.
Montgomery Blvd NE
Officers responded Tuesday at 9:50 p.m. to a crash involving a vehicle and an E-scooter in a parking lot at 4321 Montgomery Blvd., N.E.
The preliminary investigation indicated a purple Chevrolet Malibu was driving southbound in the parking lot, and a woman was riding a black E-scooter with an attached seat, heading northbound in the parking lot. The vehicle and scooter crashed in the parking lot.
The scooter rider, an adult female, died at the scene. The driver of the Malibu, an adult male, stayed at the scene and was questioned by investigators. The crash is under investigation.
Juan Tablo Blvd and Lomas Blvd NE
Investigators are currently at the scene of a crash involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian shortly after 5 a.m. on Lomas Blvd., just west of Juan Tabo Blvd. The male victim suffered life-threatening injuries and he was transported to a local hospital.
UPDATE:
APD issued an update stating that the victim of this morning’s crash on Lomas Blvd. NE died from his injuries at the hospital later that day. The victim’s identity remains unknown at this time.
The preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Lomas Blvd from south to north. APD states that the pedestrian was not utilizing a crosswalk. The pedestrian was crossing the street near the Southwest Child Care business located at 11800 Lomas Blvd NE. A Dodge 1500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Lomas Blvd when it struck the pedestrian in the middle lane.
