Officers responded around 7:30 PM to reports of a motorcycle crash near Westside Blvd and 7 Bar Loop Rd NW.

According to initial information provided, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 7 Bar Loop Rd when the motorcycle crossed both lanes of Westside Blvd, struck a curb, traveled over a sidewalk and walking path, and crashed into a large retaining wall.

The rider suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told investigators the motorcyclist failed to stop at a stop sign on northbound 7 Bar Loop Rd and appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Investigators have not determined whether impairment was a factor.

Police say speed and failure to stop at the intersection appear to have contributed to the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, APD responded to another fatal motorcycle crash near Menaul and Richmond, which remains under investigation.

According to APD Public Information Officer Gilbert Gallegos, officers responded to four fatal crashes between Tuesday at 9:50 PM and Wednesday at 7:30 PM, with the department’s Fatal Crash Team called out four separate times during that 22-hour period.
