Albuquerque –
BCSO officials tell us, that on the evening of March 13, 2024, their deputies from the Bernalillo County
Sheriffs Office were dispatched to a reported shooting incident at a residence located in the 10000
block of 2nd St NW, Albuquerque. The call was received at approximately 8:24 PM, with the caller
stating that he had shot his brother-in-law after a confrontation.
Upon arrival, deputies found 39-year-old Adam Apodaca in the yard with a gunshot wound. Mr.
Apodaca was promptly transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was later
pronounced dead.
The 43-year-old caller, who is the suspected shooter, was detained at the scene without incident. He
agreed to speak with detectives, and witnesses at the scene were also interviewed as part of the
ongoing investigation. Following preliminary inquiries, in consultation with the District Attorney’s
Office, it was assessed that the shooting occurred in self-defense. Consequently, no charges have been
filed at this time.
The Bernalillo County Sheriffs Office is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances
of the incident. The complete case report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for a final
review upon conclusion of the investigation.
