The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public for assistance in an incident that occurred on September 26, 2023, at approximately 10:30 pm. According to a press release from BCSO “Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Unit were dispatched to the intersection of I-25 between Broadway and Rio Bravo Blvd” in response to a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian, which regrettably resulted in a fatality. Subsequently, a third vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

According to BCSO, the suspect vehicle in question resembles a ‘U-Haul’ or ‘Food Truck’ style box truck or van, featuring two axles and a conventional truck front. Notably, the vehicle appears to have been spray-painted white, potentially as an attempt to obscure any original markings or emblems. It may also have a side access door leading into the cargo area. At the time of the incident, no license plate information was obtained, and the number of occupants remains unknown. Following the collision, the vehicle was last seen heading northbound on I-25, specifically between the Broadway and Rio Bravo Blvd exit at mile marker 218.

BCSO is imploring the community to aid in this critical investigation. If you possess any information pertaining to this incident, please reach out to BCSO’s Traffic Investigation Unit directly at (505) 798-7000. Your assistance is invaluable in this matter.
