On September 11th, 2023, around 7:00am, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office received a call to check on the well-being of people living at a residence on the 2100 block of Anthony Pl SW.

When deputies arrived, they saw that the house was “unlocked and unsecured.” BCSO deputies tried to call out to anyone inside, but no one answered. After multiple unsuccessful efforts to establish communication with anyone inside, deputies chose to enter the residence.

Inside, deputies discovered two deceased individuals inside. Their names were Javier Almanza, who was 27 years old, and Hannah Slaven, who was 21 years old. According to BCSO, their next of kin have been notified.

BCSO investigators say details remain limited at this time, but they think this might have been a murder followed by a suicide. The detectives from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide and CSI units are diligently investigating to uncover the precise details of this incident.

We will update you when and if we learn more information from BCSO.
