Albuquerque –

Sam Bregman, District Attorney of the 2nd Judicial District, announced his candidacy to be the Democratic nominee for Governor of the state of New Mexico to hundreds of supporters in Las Vegas, NM in the Plaza Park. In his opening speech he will discuss why now and why him.

“New Mexico is under attack by Elon Musk, his puppet Donald Trump and the Republicans in Washington, “ Bregman said. “They’re attacking our public schools, our healthcare, veterans, workers – all of us. I’m running to take on the chaos in Washington and protect the people of New Mexico. Not only do we need to protect our
freedoms and Democratic values in our state, we still have more work to do to address issues affecting everyday New Mexicans. Issues such as: Fighting back against the scourge of crime that has hit every corner of our state; Ensuring that everyone in New Mexico has access to quality and affordable health care; Creating new economic opportunities and high-paying jobs; Reforming our education system so that no child is left behind; and Investing in housing programs so that no person is left on the streets ”

Bregman has been a career litigator for 30 years. He began his political career as an Albuquerque City Councilor, and later served as the chair of the New Mexico Democratic Party. He was appointed to serve as Bernalillo County District Attorney by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in January 2023 and won re-election in 2024. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law.

The crowd was holding Sam Bregman for Governor signs and there was one heckler who circled the event. He would yell that Bregman was a liar. He had security close by and was escorted away from the event.

He is the second Democrat to enter the race for the Democrat primary for Governor. Former U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland was the first person to announce.

      1. I truly believe that we the good and decent people of Albuquerque, Should consider giving back New Mexico to the Mexican! Anyway Albuquerque is just Juarez Heights . Think about it, Corrupted Police, Corrupted politicians and the killing . Let’s not forget the Rio Grande River. And to the last American in New Mexico don’t forget the Flag.

  1. Democrats fight against everything good while allowing everything bad to grow. NM must turn away from the failed Democrat policies that have ruined the state for 90+ years. President Trump and his administration can lead the country into prosperity if we let them. NM can join that march to prosperity with new leadership, and a new legislature, that values citizens over criminals and illegal immigrants.

    1. What prosperity? Trump and his buddies are the only ones getting rich off the backs of the American people. If you think you’ll see a dime from all the programs he’s cutting, you’re sadly mistaken.

  2. Sam Bregman, what’s up with the Cowboy Hat and attire? You have neither the work ethic or the moral fiber of a true working Cowboy. In fact you would not even make a pimple on a Cowboy’s Ass. Stay in your own lane and quit pretending to be something you’re not asshole.

  3. The last thing NM needs is another Democrat at the helm. Look at the mess our state has become under Democratic “leadership”. People, look around, do some critical thinking … we need change!

  4. Sam has Alex envy. This is what happens when an aging parent realizes his son is more successful than he will ever be. Its a last ditch effort to remain relevant before Alex has to help Dad make life decisions and wipe the drool off his chin.
