Police and student bystanders gather outside the area where Andrew Burson was killed.
NW Albuquerque –
Albuquerque Police arrested Marcos Trejo, 14, in the killing of Andrew Burson near West Mesa High School. In a criminal complaint, detectives described a fight that happened due to stolen property.
Burson confronted Trejo at a car and demanded his “shit back.” Trejo denied having anything of Burson’s. Witnesses said Burson held Trejo against the fence and repeatedly demanded Trejo to give him his “shit back.” They said Trejo was able to get away from the Burson and both started to run. Trejo shot at Burson 5 to 6 times. After the shooting Trejo fled from the scene on foot. Witnesses said the “shit” was believed to be Burson’s “Ghost Gun” which was allegedly purchased on the internet.
Another witness said Burson told them someone had stole money from him. A witness said Burson posted on Snapchat that “Some fool stole my gun, no big deal, just a minor setback.”
Trejo was taken into custody without incident and refused to provide a statement without a lawyer. A booking photo was not provided at the time of this story.
He is charged with first degree murder and tampering with evidence.
