Albuquerque –

Around 3:00 PM on April 6, a two-year-old child was shot inside an apartment on the 1930 block of Buena Vista Dr SE, near Gibson and Buena Vista.

When officers from the Albuquerque Police Department’s Southeast Area Command arrived, they found a toddler who was not conscious and not breathing. Officers immediately began rendering aid while Albuquerque Fire Rescue was en route. CPR was administered on scene.

Despite attempting life-saving measures, emergency medical personnel pronounced the toddler dead at this location.

Officers have blocked off the area to begin the investigation, and APD’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigators have been called to the scene.

Reportedly, Buena Vista is blocked off between Gibson and Ross.

The Champion Car Wash, located at 2020 Buena Vista Dr SE, is closed for the day. People needing to enter the apartment complex will likely not be allowed access to their apartment for the time being as the area is a crime scene.
