Albuquerque –

Around 11:15 AM on April 6, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews responded to a serious injury motor vehicle crash on southbound I-25, south of Paseo del Norte. Numerous people called in reporting the crash, at least one caller stated a car collided with the jersey barrier.

When APD and AFR arrived, the person in the accident was in critical condition and transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital by Rescue 20.

Dispatchers were attempting to request assistance for the crash from the New Mexico State Police and APD Police Service Aides.

Police are shutting down southbound I-25 at Paseo. Authorities are redirecting drivers off I-25SB before Paseo and closing the Paseo on-ramp, preventing access to I-25SB at this location. Drivers may want to avoid I-25SB between Alameda and San Antonio.

UPDATE @ 12:25 PM:

At 12:25PM, APD reportedly reopened I-25SB at Paseo.
