The update received this morning from APD says:

“The driver who was seriously injured in Monday’s crash with an APD officer was a 25-year-old man, not a teen-ager as officers originally believed. The man is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Investigators determined the APD officer was responding to separate traffic crash at 98th St. and I-40 around 6:39 p.m. when he crashed into a white 2004 Toyota Camry sedan. The officer was traveling northbound on Snow Vista Blvd. S.W., as he approached Sage Rd. S.W. The Camry pulled out onto Snow Vista from the Walmart and the APD vehicle struck the Camry on the driver side.

The officer was also transported to a hospital to treat minor injuries.
