Albuquerque –

Minutes after 6:20 PM, a significant motor vehicle collision occurred on I-40 westbound west* of Juan Tabo, before Eubank. The Albuquerque Fire and Rescue Department and the Albuquerque Police Department promptly responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they purportedly discovered a motorcycle rider lying motionless with critical injuries. An AFR Battalion Chief was in the vicinity and also responded to render medical aid.

Reportedly, the female rider suffered an extremity amputation and was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital by AFR’s Rescue 9.

The New Mexico State Police is taking over the investigation of this crash.

Per NM DOT/NM ROADS of I-40 westbound is closed at Eubank (mile marker 165). Closures are subject to change as the investigation progresses.

UPDATE:

This crash has reportedly been cleared.

An earlier update stated the crash was east of Juan Tabo; the incident was actually just west of Juan Tabo, before Eubank. A clear photo (below) indicating the closure location was provided. We appreciate your understanding.
