Albuquerque –

On June 29th, 2025, the Albuquerque Police Department Officers responded to a favorite hot spot of the Cretin life at Central Ave and Pennsylvania St. This call was in reference to a shots fired call. When officers arrived, they saw a large amount of people fleeing the area and a witness informed them the shots came from a white pickup.

According to a criminal complaint, officers observed the white pickup in the parking lot and made contact with two males. One was 27-year-old Santiago Lajeunesse, of Albuquerque and the other was 44-year-old Brian Rivera, also of Albuquerque. Rivera was in the passenger seat and officers observed drug paraphernalia in the truck. Lajeunesse was not in the truck at the time of the contact but decided to interject himself into the situation and proceeded to interrupt the investigation.

The complaint goes on to say officers searched Lajeunesse and found a gun in his waistband and observed a large amount of fentanyl inside the truck. Both Lajeunesse and Rivera were taken to the brand newly remodeled Southeast Substation located at 800 Louisiana Blvd. SE.

While officers were working on paperwork, Lajeunesse decided to test the new security measures inside the substation and managed to parkour up the wall and escape from the holding cell. He then barricaded himself inside a part of the substation. APD’s SWAT team was called to the scene to assist with removing Lajeunesse from his sneaky position. Officers were eventually able to take him into custody with the assistance of a Police Service Dog. The complaint says he damaged tiles and beams during his attempted escape.

Lajeunesse was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Escape from the Custody of a Peace Officer, Tampering with Evidence, Felony Criminal Damage to property over a $1,000. And Unlawful Carrying of a Deadly Weapon.

Rivera, Lajeunesse’s partner in crime got off a bit easier and was charged with possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a felony, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
