Albuquerque Police Department (APD) homicide detectives have arrested Tyvon Leno, 26, for the overnight stabbing death of his brother, Ozal Leno, in Downtown Albuquerque.
The two brothers, both from Acoma Pueblo, were in a vehicle with their mother and two other men around 2 a.m. After visiting bars and nightclubs in Downtown, the group got into a minivan, and the brothers began arguing. Their mother told detectives she pleaded with them to stop fighting, but the argument turned physical.
According to a witness inside the van, Ozal Leno, 28, reportedly punched Tyvon Leno before Tyvon stabbed Ozal in the neck. Although the others in the car said they did not see a knife, Ozal began bleeding profusely from the neck. Tyvon then fled from the van, while their mother tried to stop Ozal’s bleeding. One of the other men drove the group to an urgent care center on the West Side, where Ozal died from his wound.

Downtown officers were flagged down by Tyvon Leno, who reported that his brother had been stabbed. Tyvon initially claimed someone else had stabbed his brother and Tyvon stabbed the assailant. Tyvon led officers to the area of 6th St. and Copper Ave., where they saw blood splattered on the sidewalk. Later, Tyvon admitted to APD detectives that he was the one who actually did it.
Tyvon Leno declined to speak with homicide detectives about the incident today. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence. He is also being held on a felony probation violation. He was booked into the Metro Detention Center at 3:15 PM.

She didn’t seem too concerned for the bleeding one to get him to an actual trauma unit, like the 3 within a few miles of downtown. I am going to bet the mother was a typical lowlife herself who raised another couple of lowlifes. One lowlife decided to shank the other. She will get him back in a few years in this state. Since this was a domestic incident, I bet they plea it down to something like manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. At most he gets sentenced to 10 years and will out in 5.
I asked a nurse once, who do NM women enable so much, and why they only date jobless criminals? She said: “That’s just the New Mexico way.”
Now I’m without two cousins. My sister wanted a reunion for her birthday since we hadn’t seen them in so long. I mean I don’t know them too well but it still hurts.
