Albuquerque – Earlier this afternoon at around 4:20pm Officers from the Southeast Area Command responded to a shots fired call at the Jerry Cline Tennis Complex at Louisiana and Constitution.

A witness said a subject in an older model white Nissan Maxima fired several rounds into the sky at the park. Officers were responding to the call when a responding officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the Maxima at San Pedro and Lomas. The officer tried to pull over the vehicle at Smiths but it immediately fled. Due to the violent nature of the vehicles involvement in a driveby a supervisor authorized a pursuit. A short pursuit ensued until the vehicle crashed into a cinder block wall on Constitution and Cagua NE which is just west of San Pedro.

A male driver and female passenger were immediately taken into custody and rescue were seen attending to both of them. The male driver appeared to refuse medical treatment from responding AFR and ambulance personnel. The female appeared to be suffering from some sort of incarceritis and was transported to the hospital for a short detour before she is inevitably booked. Following an initial investigation by field officers, APD’s detectives and criminalistics will assist with the investigation.

The investigation is on-going. We will update this story when we learn more information.
