According to BCSO, their Violent Crimes Unit originally responded to the scene and have now transferred the case to their Homicide Detectives. BCSO believes this shooting stems from a road rage incident.

While on scene, we observed a truck that had crashed near a ditch just west of the river on Bridge Boulevard. We could see a few evidence markers around the truck. BCSO did not give any additional details about a suspect vehicle or if Alvarez had any weapons on his person.

BCSO said detectives are asking for the community’s help as the investigation continues. Anyone who may have seen or knows something related to this incident is urged to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously by texting BCSO to 847411, scanning the QR code in the attached image, or visiting bernco.gov/bernalillo-county-sheriff/tip411/ and clicking “Submit a Tip.”

They added they are requesting local business owners to register their security cameras with their Community Connect program. This valuable tool helps law enforcement solve crimes more efficiently by identifying where cameras are located throughout the county. Businesses can register at connectbernalillocounty.org.

We will update you if we learn any more information about this crime.
