Albuquerque –

Just before 8:40 PM, on Monday, March 10, there was a motor vehicle crash at Rio Clara Ave SW & 98th St SW. The crash involved motorcycle vs a van, and a motorcycle rider died on the scene.

After the crash, Bernalillo County Fire Rescue and Albuquerque Ambulance were purportedly working on the driver of the van. We learned from APD that the van driver also died at the scene.

At the time of this incident, the Albuquerque Police Department’s Motor Unit responded to investigate. Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Police Service Aides blocked off lanes of traffic on 98th St. to investigate.

According to a release from APD, during the investigation “it was discovered that a gold Honda Odyssey was stopped at a stop sign on east Rio Clara Ave at 98th St. The Honda entered into the intersection, when a motorcycle going south on 98th struck into the driver’s side door of the Honda.  The crash resulted in the death of both drivers.”

When we get an update from APD on this crash and the investigation, we will update you.

As of 11:15 PM, on Monday, March 10, Apple Maps (photo) also showed that 98th St SW remained closed between Rio Rojo Ave SW and Sacate Blanco Ave SW.

Why aren’t you covering the shooting/deaths that resulted over on Montgomery earlier this morning?also why sooooo late on bringing up this story? It would seem that unless it happens in the “war zone” you all are very slow to cover it if at all!
