Firefighters Quickly Contain Blaze at Abandoned Home; One Injured

On August 5, 2024, at around 7:58 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire at an abandoned, secured single-story home at 3509 Pitt St NE. Medic 9 arrived and confirmed a working fire in the structure.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within nine minutes. The fire caused significant damage to the living room, with smoke and heat affecting the entire building.

An AFR firefighter suffered a minor injury, but no civilians were hurt. AFR Fire Investigators are currently on scene working to determine the fire’s cause and origin. However, at the time of this posting the cause remains unknown.
