Albuquerque Foothillls – APD officers are holding down a residential location near Tramway and Indian School after an alleged car thief tried to steal a vehicle from a retired law enforcement officers home.
The armed thief chose the wrong home early this morning to steal a car from, and was confronted by the home owner who happened to be an armed retired police officer.
Early reports mentioned at least one shot was fired by the retired officer. We have since learned no shots were ever fired. The suspect is now in critical care at UNMH.
We will update this story if and when we learn more information from official sources at APD.
UPDATE: NO SHOTS WERE FIRED DURING THIS INCIDENT. EARLY INFORMATION RECEIVED MENTIONED A GUN HOWEVER IT WAS NOT FIRED DURING THE INCIDENT. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SORT OF PHYSICAL FIGHT OVER CONTROL OF THE GUN HOWEVER IT WAS NOT FIRED.
