The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team is investigating a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian early Tuesday morning.
Shortly after midnight, APD officers responded to reports of the crash near the intersection of Central Ave NE and San Pedro Dr NE. Upon arrival, they located a pedestrian who had sustained critical injuries. Emergency personnel rushed the victim to a local hospital where they are in critical condition.
Reportedly, the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a black SUV. The exact make and model are unknown at the time of this posting.
“Due to the severity of the injuries and information gathered at the scene, this incident has been transitioned to a Violent Crimes Call Out,” an APD spokesperson said. Various investigative units within APD are now responding to investigate the crash.
