Hit & Run Suspect Flees After Slamming into Pedestrian in War Zone

Albuquerque –

Around 11:15AM, an Albuquerque Police officer was patrolling the International War Zone District when they observed a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near Madeira and Zuni RD SE. The vehicle then fled from the scene eastbound on Zuni RD SE.

APD and Albuquerque Fire responded to the scene to treat the pedestrian. The victim had severe head trauma, bleeding and visible extremity injuries. The victim was taken to UNMH in a category one condition which translates to critical condition.

While on scene we could see police investigating a mirror in the roadway. The mirror appeared to be left over from the suspect vehicle. Police were blocking traffic on Zuni between Madeira Dr and Palomas Dr SE.
