Homeless Man in Critical Condition After Bizarre Road Rage Incident

Just before 5:25 PM, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) were called to reports of a stabbing in progress near Interstate 40 and Louisiana Boulevard. While officers were en route, they were advised that the injured person had possibly been dragged by an unknown vehicle. The individual was reportedly located near Louisiana Blvd and Mountain Rd.

Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from life-threatening injuries in the southbound lanes of Louisiana Blvd near Mountain Rd NE. Officers and rescue personnel attempted to provide medical aid to the injured individual.

A woman who was driving in the area told APD officers that she witnessed the incident. She reported seeing an individual near the I-40 and Louisiana Blvd exit approach a driver, reach into their car and attempt to stab the driver. According to the woman, the driver fled the area, but the individual who allegedly attempted the stabbing held onto the vehicle and was dragged to the area of Louisiana and Mountain.

At the scene, a male was observed with what appeared to be critical injuries to his head. Officers continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

APD was also searching for a person who reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. The individual was believed to have been located around 7 p.m. and detained for questioning in connection with the incident and the reported departure from the scene of an accident.

Traffic in the surrounding area was shut down and diverted while officers investigated the incident.
