Albuquerque –

On February 2nd, 2025, the Albuquerque Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex located at 240 Louisiana Blvd NE. in reference to multiple shots being fired within the complex.

According to the criminal complaint, APD arrived on scene and found 35-year-old Brian Rollins of Albuquerque in the doorway of his apartment with a rifle. APD was able to safely detain Rollins and while doing so he admitted to “shooting up into the air.”

Rollins told officers he did not point his rifle at any person or structure when he fired. When officers were searching the apartment they found 38-year-old Irma Tapia of Albuquerque. Tapia was interviewed by APD officers and told them she also joined in on the shooting into the air festivities.

The complaint goes on to say, Tapia admitted to gathering up all the fired casings and hiding them inside a nasty cat litter box. The complaint does not indicate when the last time the litter box was actually cleaned out. It also does not indicate exactly what if anything they were celebrating for them to drink and shoot into the sky.

Tapia was charged with negligent use of a firearm, conspiracy to commit a felony, and tampering with evidence. Rollins was booked into MDC for negligent use of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
