Albuquerque-

Through a tweet on December 26th, 2021, Albuquerque Police Department announced that a murder suspect had turned himself in from a February 2021 homicide.

Adrian Avila, 17, is accused of murdering, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. Avila had an arrest warrant issued by APD and he turned himself in on December 26th, 2021.

He and Anna Dukes lured a man off social media to rob him. The victim’s brother came out of the house and confronted them. Elias Otero, 24, was shot and killed in the incident.

“I made a promise to my son I would not let them get away with it. I still have a long road but I don’t plan on breaking my promise. I have started the New Mexico Crusaders for justice along with other families of victims of homicide and we want to make change for New Mexico. We have an accountability problem here in New Mexico. Our system is broken and we will fight to fix it,” said Alicia Otero, mother of Elias.
