Albuquerque Fire Rescue Engine 1 and Rescue 1 were also dispatched to the scene. However, at approximately 3:08 AM, rescue units were canceled, and fire radio transmissions indicated the victim was a “9 Bravo,” meaning cardiac or respiratory arrest, or death.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 3:10 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Engine 1 and Rescue 1 were re-dispatched to check on an individual at 8th St SW and Gold Ave SW who was requesting medical attention. When AFR personnel asked about the extent of the person’s complaints or medical needs, they were advised that APD did not provide additional details, essentially it was “an unknown,” only that the individual at 8th St SW and Gold Ave SW had requested to be evaluated by medical personnel. At 3:15 AM, AFR reported back to dispatch that the second call at 8th and Gold had a chief complaint of abnormal breathing. It is unclear if this other person was transported by AFR.

APD continues to investigate the incident but has not yet stated whether the death is being treated as a homicide investigation.
