Albuquerque –
Homicide detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department are investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in the death of a man in Southwest Albuquerque.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 3 AM Saturday in the 4500 block of Blake Road SW at the Vista Del Sol Mobile Home Park.
When officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds. One of the victims died from their injuries. The other two victims were reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available from APD.
UPDATE:
After this story was published Saturday morning, APD issued a corrected media advisory at 9:48 AM, acknowledging it had erroneously reported in its initial media alert that one of the victims had died.
The updated advisory said:
“At the time of the initial notification, APD was advised the victim had died; however, we have since confirmed the victim remains on life support.
This incident is still being investigated, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
This is not the first time APD’s Public Information Officers have incorrectly reported a victim’s condition, having previously announced that a victim had died when the person was still alive and, in other cases, reported an injured person was alive and transported to a local hospital when the individual had died at the scene.
