Around 1:55 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a shooting near 1425 San Mateo NE. The caller stated one person was shot and non-responsive. Albuquerque Fire Rescue was also sent.

APD officers pulled an unresponsive person out of a sedan and began life saving measures. Upon AFR’s arrival, they advised the male was beyond help, and he died at the scene.

While on scene, we observed a sedan with a sheet covering the deceased person on the southbound lanes of San Mateo Blvd NE.

Both directions of San Mateo Blvd NE will be closed while this investigation is on going.

This is a developing story. We will update you as we learn more.

UPDATE:

Officers reopened lanes of traffic in this area around 7:00 PM.

It is believed the offender from this incident has not been taken into custody.

The Albuquerque Police Department has not yet identified the victim who was killed.
