UPDATE:

Around 1:37 PM, APD officers finished searching the interior of the Walmart and began breaking down the perimeter.

According to a tipster familiar with the situation, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the store around 1 p.m. after a bomb threat was reported. An estimated 15 to 20 APD units arrived on scene and entered the building with rifles drawn, evacuating customers and employees as they searched for a suspect.

The tipster said there were unconfirmed reports that the threatening call may have been traced to Texas, possibly suggesting a swatting call, but a separate trace led investigators to believe the individual could have been inside the store, possibly in a rear restroom. Officers deployed a drone to check the restroom area, but no suspect or threat was found.

By approximately 1:45 p.m., police activity at the store began to wind down. Around 2:05 p.m., customers were allowed back inside, and the scene appeared to return to normal.

Authorities from APD or Walmart have not yet released an official statement confirming details of the threat or the investigation.
