South Valley Albuquerque –
On August 4th, 2022, at around 9:30PM Bernalillo County deputies were sent out to 4311 Sheldon St SE in the South Valley area of Albuquerque. The calls were in regards to a man who shot his father.When deputies arrived they found Ernest Sena, Sr. dead by a single gunshot wound and they immediately detained his son, 38 year old Ernest Sena, Jr. for the killing.
According to a criminal complaint, the two Sena’s were in an argument in the house over groceries being put away properly and also things missing from the home.
Witnesses say Sena Sr. uses a cane to walk and has limited mobility. Three witnesses heard the arguing and then heard a gunshot. A neighbor said she heard a male scream that he accidentally shot his dad.

The complaint goes on to say, Ernest Sr told Ernest Jr, “Just pull out your gun out and shoot me.” Ernest then drew his firearm from his waistband and raised it forcefully in the direction of Ernest Sr and said, “I don’t need my gun!” Suddenly the gun fired, and Ernest Sr was struck by the projectile. Ernest Jr was shocked because he admitted he did not expect the firearm to actually discharge. The gun recovered on scene was a .380 Smith and Wesson handgun.

Sena Jr., was charged with an open count of first degree murder and he has a prior criminal record with cases ranging from domestic violence, assaulting police officers, and driving while intoxicated. Some of the cases he struck plea deals and others were dismissed by the prosecution.
