Albuquerque –
On March 5th, 2026, around 1:15 PM, ABQ RAW staff were in our headquarters near the 200 block of San Mateo NE when a man, later identified as 38-year-old Jordan Jones of Albuquerque, approached vehicles in our parking lot and started walking around them. Jones took a keen interest in our F-150 truck and began lurking around it with extreme focus.
Our publisher has the Ford Pass app on his phone and was able to remote start the vehicle from inside the building hoping this would scare the lurker away.
One staff member, who is retired law enforcement, went out armed to confront Jones and get him to leave the property. Jones was not fazed by the staff member telling him to leave the property. The staff member kept a tactical position of advantage behind the truck while negotiating with Jones. Jones claimed several times that it was “his truck,” and he was adamant about obtaining his free truck.
Another staff member called the Albuquerque Police Department 911 dispatch to inform them of the brazen Jones and we had him at gunpoint next to our truck. The 911 dispatcher informed us that police officers would not come to the scene unless the firearm was secured. We explained to dispatch that if we retreated, Jones would steal our truck. The 911 operator explained to us that it would be okay if that happened.
Fearing for our safety and not knowing if Jones had any weapons, we informed the 911 dispatcher we were going to comply with her request to retreat inside and we were no longer going to confront Jones. We watched from inside the building as Jones gained access to the vehicle and started to rev the engine. He attempted to manipulate the gear shifter to drive away.
We informed 911 dispatch that Jones was attempting to drive off. We gave all the pertinent information and hung up with 911. They made a few attempts to call us back, but the crime had already been committed, and there was nothing an operator in a building several miles away could do to fix the situation.
APD eventually arrived on scene and blocked Jones in, and immediately started giving public address commands for him to exit the vehicle. In a nearly 3-hour standoff, APD fired less-lethal munitions at the ABQ RAW truck to bust out the windows to get Jones to come out. Jones had no regard for those tactics and started smoking an unknown, definitely illegal substance inside our vehicle.
Eventually, APD’s SWAT team was called to the scene and threw a few flash bangs at the vehicle. Jones finally figured out his “ownership” was over and he needed to surrender to the police. He was shot with at least 3, 40mm less lethal rounds when he exited the vehicle. The SWAT team took him into custody without incident.
The ABQ RAW truck and camera equipment were severely damaged by Jones and the less-lethal munitions fired by APD. At least 3 windows were busted or shattered. A telephoto lens was damaged from glass shrapnel hitting the glass on the lens. (Story continues below photos)

Jones was charged with auto theft, burglary, and resisting police. He has a long felony criminal record dating back to 2008 ranging from drug possession to damaging property.
