According to a criminal complaint, detectives were able to piece together from security videos and witness statements that Ocana and the victim, Lopez, had an interaction that lead to Ocana shooting at Lopez’s car. The complaint goes on to state that the two had a prior interaction a few months back relating to Ocana touching Lopez’s girlfriend’s butt. At that time it started a fight at Tingley Beach and threats were made.

Ocana told detectives that he went fishing at Tingley Beach on October 31st, 2022 and saw Lopez and decided to leave the area. Ocana alleges Lopez ran up on his vehicle and pulled over to let him pass. The two pulled next to each other and Ocana fired at Lopez. Lopez’s vehicle did have a black handgun on the floor board.
