ABQ International War Zone District – ABQ RAW was driving through Albuquerque’s war zone after enjoying some delicious menudo at a spot on Zuni when we noticed a large Albuquerque Police Department presence with the APD’s Violent Crime RV parked in the middle of the street. Once on scene, we noticed a silver sedan with windshield damage and red crime scene tape surrounding it.
A short time after being on scene, an APD email was sent out to the media detailing an early morning 5AM call out.
APD’s civilian spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said, Albuquerque Police Department (APD) officers were called to the intersection of Alcazar Street and Copper Avenue, N.E. about
a report of a suspicious vehicle which prompted their response. Upon the officers’ arrival, they found a female driver to be unresponsive inside, with visible signs of bleeding. Upon a more detailed examination, officers determined that the adult female was deceased.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to start an investigation. This could be Albuquerque’s 111th homicide of 2023.
