APD Homicide Detectives Arrest Woman in Early Sunday Boyfriend Killing

ALBUQUERQUE –

APD homicide detectives charged Celeste Al-Asady for killing her boyfriend during a domestic incident early this morning. Per NM Courts, Al-Asady also goes by Al-Asad, Al-Asaday, and numerous other names.

Al-Asady, 44, called 911 around 7:30 AM to report she checked on her neighbor who appeared to be deceased at his home located at 6094 Avalon Rd. N.W.

Arriving officers made contact with Al-Asady who had blood on her clothes. When officers went inside the residence, they saw a pool of blood and located the victim on the floor. A trail of blood led upstairs.

Al-Asady told officers she heard glass break at about 5:30 AM,  but did not check on the victim until 7:30 AM. When she entered the apartment, she said saw a pocket knife on the floor, picked it up, and put it on the counter. Al-Asady said the victim had blood all over him. She tried to wake him up by throwing water on his face.

Al-Asady’s mother, who lives with Al-Asady in the apartment next to the victim, told detectives her daughter dated Al-Asady and she heard them arguing on Saturday night. Another neighbor said she heard a loud and physical confrontation Saturday night.

Detectives also discovered evidence inside the victim’s apartment that indicated Al-Asady had tracked the victim’s blood throughout the apartment and she discarded bloody clothes in the apartment.

Al-Asady was transported to a local hospital to treat symptoms of alcohol withdrawals. She is being charged with an open count of murder, and will be booked into the Metro Detention Center when she is released from the hospital.
