Albuquerque –
The Albuquerque Police Department is currently engaged in ongoing police activity in the vicinity of 114th St SW & Central Ave NW. The activity is concentrated within the mesa area between Central Ave NW and I-40.
APD units were seen surrounding a black SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition, with one unit blocking it from behind. At one point, the driver attempted to drive in reverse but was unable to move due to the police vehicle behind them. Officers appear focused on a person or persons inside the SUV, which was stopped in the Mesa area.
APD and Police Service Aides (PSAs) are blocking off Central east and westbound at 114th near the Herrera School Buses and Coaches business, as this situation unfolds. Road closures are subject to change as the APD may need to expand its perimeter.
As of 4:30 PM, APD’s SWAT team arrived at this location.
This situation is still ongoing as of 5:25 PM.
UPDATE:
Around 6:30 PM, crisis negotiators left the perimeter, and other police personnel were seen leaving around 6:40 PM, signaling this SWAT situation is likely over. The outcome is presently unknown, but we will monitor MDC to see if a suspect was taken into custody.
Traffic in the area might continue to be blocked off until APD SWAT units leave the area.
UPDATE 2:
We learned that APD was still on scene as of 7:40 PM. Two Crime Scene Investigator trucks were seen in the area, which likely explains the extended closure.
If we learn more, we will update you.
Oh Gosh, I hope that APD doesn’t shoot them.
LMAO!!
Years ago I used to ride dirt bikes in thas area until it turned into a dump. Good place to joyride a stolen 4×4 or dispose of a body these days. Just another area that gangbangers and idiots have destroyed. Good for you Albuquerque.
So what really happened?
Honestly @abqraw is not very good at all with the follow up. They love to start the frenzy but again once that initial frenzy is over so is their “reporting” @abqraw do better
