Albuquerque –
Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department have closed Unser Blvd NW between Paradise Blvd NW and Paseo del Norte Blvd NW.
Before the closure, road crews were working to clear debris, including tumbleweeds, from the roadway and side of the road. In true New Mexico spring fashion, a gust of wind had other plans, blowing the tumbleweeds right back into the lanes of traffic.
A bulldozer has arrived and will hopefully expediting the cleanup efforts.
Officers are diverting traffic while cleanup continues, and drivers are advised to avoid this stretch of Unser. Closures may change as conditions improve and cleanup ends.
If we learn more about Unser reopening, we will update you.
UPDATE:
As of 7:30 PM, the area remains closed. Street crews were purportedly concluding their cleanup efforts, and once completed, APD officers and APD’s Police Service Aides will reopen the area.
UPDATE 2:
At 8:40 PM, all lanes of traffic on Unser Blvd reopened.
Stay safe, Albuquerque.
