Underage Teen with Ankle Monitor Kills Neighbor, Mom and Son Charged in Murder

Albuquerque –

On April 25th, 2025, APD detectives arrested Munah Green, 44-year-old and her 17-year-old son, Rickey Rodgers, of Albuquerque for Thursday’s shooting death of Richard Powell at an apartment in Southeast Albuquerque.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman who lives at an apartment located at 521 Indiana St. S.E. told detectives she was with her child when she heard someone banging on the door and windows shortly before 9 p.m. The woman said she called 911 and while she was on the phone, she realized the people outside include her cousin, Green, and Green’s son, Rodgers.

The criminal complaint says detectives were made aware of underage teen, Rodgers, having an ankle monitor. They contacted parole about the GPS location and it put him at the 520 block of Indiana St. S.E. at the same time of the murder. The complaint does not say what Rodgers’ charges are for him to be on an ankle monitor.

The woman said her boyfriend, Richard Powell, approached the apartment and confront the people who yelled at him to open the door. Powell told them to leave and the arguing escalated.

Powell’s girlfriend said she heard Green, yell: “Get him son, shoot him, shoot him.”

Powell’s girlfriend said she saw Rodgers produce a black handgun from his waistband, point it at Powell, and fire several rounds. She said Powell fell the ground and as he struggled to get up, Rodgers got closer and shot more rounds. 

Powell, 32, died at the scene.

Green and Rodgers are both charged with an open count of murder and an open count of conspiracy to commit murder. The two were arrested near the 900 block of Edith Ave. SE in a brief SWAT situation. Both peacefully gave up. Green will be booked into the adult jail and Rodgers will head to the juvenile detention center.
