APD tells us that their detectives are investigating an overnight homicide in Southeast Albuquerque.

Officers responded Sunday night at around 9:10 PM to a report of woman who appeared to be deceased on the ground in the 300 block of Chama St. N.E. Officers and first-responders got to the scene and confirmed that the woman was in fact deceased.

Evidence at the scene led investigators to make the call a full homicide investigation, which is currently underway.

If ultimately ruled a homicide, this would be the 35th homicide of the year 2025.

There have been two homicide investigations in the War Zone in the past three days and ten minutes. Citywide, this is the third homicide investigation during that same period. On April 24, around 9:00 PM, Richard Powell was shot and killed at 521 Indiana St SE. On April 25th, APD detectives arrested Munah Green, 44-year-old and her 17-year-old son, Rickey Rodgers for Powell’s death. On April 26th, at approximately 5:40 PM, a stabbing was reported near 1st St NW and Rosemont Ave NW. The victim died at the scene. As of this publication, an arrest has not been made. On Sunday, April 27, around 9:10 PM, a woman was discovered dead in the 300 block of Chama Street NE. Police are still investigating this case.
